Abstract

Since 1961, the use of the products of cannabis as a drug as well as a medicine is probibited by the United Nations Convention on Narcotic Drugs. Despite this, merely during the last year, almost 23 million Europeans used cannabis products. This has led to the increased need for treatment due to mental disorders caused by the abuse of cannabis products. Although cannabis has been employed by physicians during the history of mankind, currently there is no need to use dried cananbis plant as a medicine. Still, in the futuure, pharmacy firms are expected to work out some cannabis based new effective medicines and to continue evidence based research for understanding the hidden opportunities of the plant named Cannabis sativa.
