Abstract

New daily persistent headache (NDPH) is a rare form of primary chronic daily headache. This is a diagnosis of exclusion and can often be misdiagnosed as chronic tension type headache. Accurate history is helpful in differentiating between both conditions. The NDPH is illustrated here with two case reports. In both patients the diagnosis is in concordance with the ICHD-II diagnostic criteria. Resistance to treatment in both cases and comorbidity with depression in one case are pointed out.
