Abstract
This article presents a case of postintubation iatrogenic tracheal rupture (ITR). An emergency endotracheal intubation complicated by tracheal rupture was performed on a 68yearold patient. The lesion was treated surgically, and the patient made a full recovery. In this case the endotracheal intubation was considered difficult due to allergyinduced laryngeal edema. Iatrogenic tracheal rupture is a rare but life threatening complication of endotracheal intubation. A chest CT and bronchoscopy should be carried out to diagnose the injury. Personalized treatment on a case bycase basis is recommended. Surgical repair is the gold standard for advanced stages and in cases with high complication risk. Conservative management including endoscopic treatment is a viable option for less invasive injuries.
