Abstract
Chronic urticaria is a skin disease characterized by the presence of wheals during six weeks or longer. The exact pathophysiology of chronic urticaria is unknown and antihistamines are not always effective. The treatment options for refractory chronic urticaria include biologic treatment, as well as the drugs that have either anti-inflammatory or immunosuppressive effects. Initiation of biologic treatment improves significantly the patients` quality of life, but it is highly regulated in Estonia.
