Abstract

Laboratory reference manuals are revised every year because of constant changes in technology and in the discovery of new etiological agents. However, basic approaches to laboratory diagnosis change very little, or are only slightly reinterpreted. This article provides an overview of the basic concepts related to current laboratory diagnosis.
