Abstract

Long-acting insulin has a relatively constant peakless concentration/time profile over 24 hours with once-daily SC administration. The drug is not intended for intravenous administration. It is used for adult and pediatric (aged >/=6 years) patients with type 1diabetes and for adults with type 2 diabetes. LANTUS is associated with low rate of hypoglycemia, good glycaemic control and less weight gain. Easy handling: injection at different sites and different times, mixing is not necessary (clear solution). LANTUS fields high treatment satisfaction and acceptance.
