Abstract
There is increased interest in the bioroles of magnesium in nutrition, physiology and clinical medicine. The intake of magnesium has decreased over the years, especially in the Western world. This article presents a human organism-based systemic analysis of the absorption, distribution, physiological functions, recommended dietary allowance, and nutritional sources of magnesium, possibilities of development of magnesium deficiency, supplementation of medical preparations as one of the components of systemic treatment, as well as the clinical signs accociated with magnesium deficiency and excess.
