Measurement of foot pressure distribution and its use in rehabilitation

Abstract

Measurement of plantar pressure provides the indication of foot and ankle function during gait as well as of other functional activities. Plantar pressure data have been recognized as an important element in assessment of patients with diabetes, peripheral neuropathy and various musculoskeletal and neurological disorders. Measurements of plantar pressure distribution have a crucial role in rehabilitation for ensuring the effectiveness of treatment and evidenc e-based results. The purpose of the present paper was to give a brief survey of the nature of this new diagnostic method and its field of use.
