Endurance exercise: does it make better or worse?

Abstract

Considering the growing popularity of endurance exercise and the increasing levels of performance at which amateur athletes compete, it becomes more and more relevant to evaluate its health impacts. During the last decade, multiple studies have addressed the benefits of excessive endurance training on the heart. The purpose of this review article was to provide an overview of the effects of excessive endurance exercise on the cardiovascular system mostly among healthy adult amateur athletes.
