Abstract

The aim of the article was to describe the contemporary understanding of the pathogenesis of haemorrhoids, as well as the principles of their diagnosis and treatment. Haemorrhoids is a very frequent disease. Before diagnosing haemorrhoids in a symptomatic patient, other colorectal pathologies should be carefully excluded. The treatment choice depends on the patient and on the degree of the clinical expression of haemorrhoids. Asymptomatic haemorrhoids do not require treatment.
