Abstract

HIV epidemic is continuing in Estonia. New HIV cases are found more often in a general population than in risk groups. The awareness of the HIV status is the first step in access to care. All persons who present to hospital should be tested and antiretroviral treatment should be started as soon as possible. Early antiretroviral treatment improves outcomes for HIV-infected individuals, and reduces the risk of disease transmission.
