Abstract

Safe effective treatment of HPV infections is currently not available. Most therapeutic modalities consist in the physical or chemical destruction of clinical or subclinical lesions. There is no specific antiviral treatment. Health education and early detection, as well as the diagnosis and treatment of premalignancies is essential  for prevention of cervical cancer. Clinical guidelines are given for follow-up and treatment.
