Abstract

Whipple`s disease is a rare multisystemic infection involving the intestinal tract as well as various other organs. The causative agent is a gram-positive bacterium – Tropheryma whippelii. Treatment is long-term, with antibiotics. The article gives an overview and a case report of Whipple`s disease.
