Abstract
The purpose of this study was to measure directly the level of maximal oxygen uptake (VO2max) in 14–16-year old adolescent Estonian girls (n = 102) and to develop a standard scale for evaluating VO2max. Their VO2max was measured on a running treadmill using the Conconi protocol. The mean (±SD) VO2max of the study subjects was 2.24 ± 0.45 l min-1 as the absolute value and 39.35 ± 6.92 ml min-1 kg-1relative to body mass. These results are rather similar to those presented in different studies conducted elsewhere on girls of same age.
