Abstract

Overweight is increasing rapidly among population. Weight and health related behaviours have important health promoting effects in cardiovascular diseases, type 2 diabetes and coronary heart disease in particular.
The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of infrared radiation on weight in overweight female musculoskeletal rehabilitation patients.
Methods. Weight measurements and a subjective health feeling questionnaire were carried out in 40 female rehabilitation patients before and after the use of infrared radiation with the equipment Elegance.
Results. Mean weight indices did not reveal a statistically significant difference between the study subjects after an interval of 2 weeks. Efforts towards weight control can be associated with healthy behavioural changes, increasing exercise and reducing fat intake.
Conclusion. Generally positive relationships in the indicators of the subjective feeling of health, such as reduced musculoskeletal pain and fatigue and improved feeling, were revealed after the application of the equipment Elegance.
