Abstract

Papulosquamous diseases are chronic inflammatory skin diseases with a significant negative impact on the physical, emotional, and psychosocial wellbeing of affected patients. The major entities include psoriasis, lichen planus, and pityriasis rubra pilaris. They can be difficult to distinguish in the early stages, yet they require different management strategies. This necessitates a
more precise understanding of the pathogenesis, which would facilitate accurate and biomarker-based diagnosis. This article
provides an overview of lichen planus, one of the most heterogeneous papulosquamous disease.
