Abstract

Contact lenses are medical devices, which are used to correct vision. They can also be used for other purposes such as changing
the appearance of a person’s eye and to deliver drugs to the eye. Contact lenses can be divided into groups based on material,
function, type, wear time and optics. It is important that they are comfortable for the wearer and well permeable to oxygen; they should also correct vision, have high wettability and be resistant to various particles that could contaminate the lens and cause complications. The purpose of this article was to give an overview of the different materials, types and features of contact lenses.
