Abstract
The prosthodontic need and demand were calculated and analysed using an available
official database, incl. population and healthcare statistics, the epidemiology of
edentulism, and health behaviour and condition research. It was concluded that,
quantitatively, the demand for removable dental protheses meets the calculated need.
However, qualitatively, the ratio of acrylic partial dentures to metal frame partials is
unnaturally high (4:1). It is also obvious that there is a shortage of fixed protheses and
crowns as well as fixed partials.
