Implementation of the quality management system in the health care organisation

Abstract

Quality issues in health care have been discussed already for more than 30 years. During the last 20 years increasing more countries in the world started to implement the principles of quality management in health care as well. The providers of health services have to consider the interests of all parties in the health system; in addition, they also have to follow different legislative acts. Implementation of the quality management system serves as a tool to find best ways how to follow response to these requirements and to meet the clients’ expectations. The quality management system can be implemented using different approaches; total quality management, ISO quality management standards, model of organisational excellence, etc. In 2004, a group of experts developed recommendations for the health services’ providers or how to build up a quality management system in health a care institution.
